Keyspan makes a number of USB to serial adapters. These adapters often come in a variety of versions, and with multiple versions of driver software.
It is important to note that to work with an X-Rite instrument, all Keyspan converters require the use of a Driver supplied by Keyspan to work properly. While we have received user reports of various problems with we have not found problems with the Keyspan series as long as the latest driver software is in use, and only one adapter is being used.
X-Rite resells the following:. Updated to Win10 version – now USB serial converter does not – Microsoft Community
I am inclined to get a newer cable but am looking for recommendations from the community. PS, I don’t know if it is an actual rule, but it’s always easier to state converters with the side that goes into your computer first, ie. Serial to USB sounds like plugging a cable into a Serial port on your computer and then something that uses a USB on the other end, but I don’t think that is what you meant. However, have you tried uninstalling the usb to serial adapter and loading the latest drivers for it, for Windows 10?
I’ve had good luck with StarTech’s adapters. Prolific has issues with Windows Had to laugh, when I read the comment about not stating the connector the correct way around – it seems like the hand-holdy snowflake era is spreading to IT! It has everything you would want, two video ports, audio, Ethernet and USB 3. Another vote for StarTech – I’ve been using their cables and adapters for over ten years and I have yet to find one that you can’t just plug in and use.
They don’t cost a lot, they’re always available at vendors if you need more, and they just work. I second the Startech From my experience the cheap adapters are not reliable.
Gopala 6 FT 1. As stated by others, you probably just need current drivers. Although these things are cheap, a driver update may resolve it without requiring you to spend time buying another one. There are a lot of USB to Serial adapters available on Ebay, but many of them do not work on Windows 10 because the support for one of the chipsets was removed from the Windows 10 code base.
If there are current Windows 10 drivers available for your existing adapter, then it should be supported however I suspect you will find that the chipset in your original adapter is the Prolific one and therefore not supported.
